I used annie sloan chalk paint in pure white on the top of the table and paris grey on the bottom 2 coats of each.

I have personally used chalk paint on all three of the surfaces and i m here to say it worked beautifully on each one. I did end up needing three coats of the white and two coats of the grey to cover the dark wood and black finishes. A few unexpected places you can use chalk paint is on kitchen cabinets walls trim floors and upholstery. I mostly worked on it during the evening hours whenever i had time and it took me about 3 weeks.

Use a bristle brush or round brush to apply the chalk paint. Apply the painters tape around the edges if needed. Prep the surface by cleaning it real well with a lint free brush and sanding with a fine grit sandpaper. Without interruptions you can easily chalk paint a dining table over the course of 3 4 days or 1 week at most.

Brush on thin even coats of chalky finish paint. Instead of using the annie sloan clear wax to seal the top of the table i tried out this clear polycrylic protective finish. Sand in between the coats to ensure a smooth finish. Use it to chalk paint tables and chairs chalk paint plastic outdoor planters or chalk paint a metal headboard.
